None of my characters currently have siblings! Except I don't know much about them yet, so--
--so I wrote it and came back and filled out details.
title: big sister
setting: during academy, after classes.
warnings: none.
characters: Berkant and Odette.
word count: 340
notes: Leaving out a summary as there's just not much here. It's a single scene, and I doubt I'll keep it for canon purposes - I can't see a reason for them to room together this early, and I obviously don't understand Odette at all yet. What I learned here, however, is that Berkant can fall asleep while studying, Odette has a deceased younger brother, and while angels use them as hosts, they don't merge. (Also I need to define more of how that works.)

"Berkant?" Her head is hanging off the bunk upside-down, her smile made to look like a frown. "Berkant, hey."
He's slumped over his desk, eyes closed, chin on his arms. He opens an eye, then both, then turns to look at her. His hair is tousled, but a normally pleasing face is twisted into a grimace.
"What now?"
"I wanted to talk."
They're both young, painfully young. He raises a hand and drags fingers through his hair, trying to fix it.
"So talk."
"Ooh, grumpy." She turns over. "I didn't realize you were asleep."
"Only a little," Berkant's grimace eases, and he puts his hands on his knees, posture automatically correcting itself into a proper polite state. "What is it?"
"Angels are all related, right?"
"Yes."
"Does that mean we're going to be brother and sister when we get our angels?"
"I...I don't know," Berkant says, pursing his lips and thinking. "I don't think so? We're hosts. We don't become them. Why?"
"I miss my brother," Odette says, looking at the floor.
"Oh."
"I had a dream about him, so..." She swings her legs, gripping the bunk. "So I thought..."
Finish your thought, Berkant wants to say. Don't leave me hanging, he thinks.
"I don't have any siblings," he says instead. "But if you want to be my - "
Odette laughs, reaching down to swipe at his hair, a brush of fingertips he barely feels.
"You dummy."
"What?"
She hops down from the bunk and tousles his hair. "You're not my brother. Not unless an angel says so."
Berkant looks down. "They'll never say so."
"...Yeah." Odette's smile falters, before she puts a hand on the door. "I'm going out. Don't sleep on your desk any more, okay?"
Berkant shakes his head, waving as she goes. He doesn't understand her, and he wonders if he ever will.
But she was acting like a big sister.
